Bunting Workshop

'Sarah came into our school as part of our Reduce, Re-use and Recycle week. The children were keen to be 'eco designers' and Sarah had ReVampt samples and her sketchbooks to inspire them. The Bunting was made in stages, puncutated by Sarah giving advice and asking questions, keeping the class interested and focused. The Bunting produced was a great springboard for the children to then design and make their own products which Sarah came back into school to give feedback on. The children were occupied and intent on making the bunting plus really pleased with the results. The box of textiles left with us has also proved invaluable'- Tabitha Rogers, Teacher,Strand on the Green Junior School

Workshop details

Bunting Workshops; where we use up dress fabric and curtain cord, bias binding, or ribbon to make rows of small flags in many different shapes, including hearts and triangles.

Rag rug making Workshop; using a chicken wire as a frame, we make fabric knots to produce rugs this can also be done with plastic bags, making it waterproof.

Denim Bag Workshop; using up the trouser legs of jeans to make bags. This does require some sewing and its always nice to embellish the bag with fabric roses etc. Which we will advise and help the group achieve while we are there.

We supply all the materials needed and are happy to explore an idea with you or the group to come up with ideas on what to make. Workshops can be done from 40 minutes upwards, depending on other subjects covered ie recycling, being an eco designer. As we are all about recycling we always leave a box of fabrics behind for other projects at no cost to the people we have worked with.

The above are images are of the Bunting Workshop ran at The Strand Junior School as part of their Reduce, Re-use and Recycle week. The children loved it and made cushions and bags from jeans to sell at their Summer Fete, after we had been to the school.
