ReVampts blog is a small affair, with Sarah making an entry on an irregular basis. Information is varied and includes things we come across that might be of interest to you.

12 May 2010: Have been very busy, moving into a studio, which needed a bit of redecoration, electrics and a wall put in before we could occupy the space. Its fab and plans are afoot to offer workshops soon. I am sharing the space with an Upholsteror- Alex Watson, so patchworked furniture will also be on our agenda. Plus the V and A Workshops were a pleasure to work on. Project Linus is a great organisation who we will get involved with soon. Thank you to Good Homes magazine for featuring me on their back page and reffering to me as the Queen of Green! 2nd July 2009: What a glorious start to the summer we are having, to celebrate ReVampt's  website has lots of new goodies to tempt you, if its not in the shop, email mail@revampit.co.uk for a purchase. Throughout July, every saturday 10- 6 and Sunday 11-6 ReVampt will be at the Tearooms market, a new indoor market at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. You can get there by alighting off the Central Line at Liverpool street, wander through Spittalfields market and then onto Brick Lane, human traffic will guide you there. Once on Brick Lane, the Tearooms is through a doorway on the lefthand side as you walk towards the Backyard market, both have signs to take you to the right place. The focus of the tearooms is furnishing and home accessories- not a trendy tee-shirt in sight, lots of vintage and old pieces available to buy. ReVampt is sharing the stall with Emma Loves Retro and Bird, two companies specialising in vintage items. Come down and see us, hopefully it will be our permanent home. Within the space is a Tea room itself, a dehli will be opening shortly there. Another space where you can buy ReVampt product is Green Kensal who launch with a free street party on the 11th July, in conjunction with many of the businesses on College rd, lots will be on offer. Maybe see you there.

15th April 2009: ReVampt has kept me busy, great order of denim cushions covers through www.ecoemporia.co.uk , re-visit to Strand on the Green Junior school to work with Year 5 on bunting. They will be using the new skills they aqquired to make denim goodies to sell at their summer fair.New stock and markets being undertaken....I have started doing Acton Market on Saturdays again, unless of course its raining when I wake up- I am a bit of a fair weather trader I have to say. No problem with weather at Greenwich market, where I had a stall last week on Sunday. Their covered Arts and Crafts Market is great to visit/trade in all year round. Am planning to do alternate Sundays there. Check out www.greenwichmarket.net to see whats for sale. Our website is updated with new stock on most pages, rag dolls, monster purses and toys coming soon from Veronica Douglas. Vintage fabrics are being used to create doorstops, credit card holders and handbags as we speak. Watch this space. Happy spring days to you all. Its been so long since I last wrote on my blog, I feel a bit embarrassed…..Anyhow, one reason I couldn't devote much time to my website was the shop that I ran over the Christmas period 'Our Eco Shop' on Westbourne Grove just off Portobello rd. Myself and Lisa Harland organised the shop and to keep costs to a minimum shared the rent, running and staffing costs with the 40 or so designers who took part. Many people helped us on our way- lisa at www.eurydicepr.co.uk was marvellous, lending a hand with the PR and getting us onto great blogs, www.ethical-junction.org were  really helpful and www.onegreenearth.com great too. See www.ourecoshop.co.uk for full details, including a sweet film of the rather lovely opening night. We will do something similar this year, although we are still recovering from quite a steep learning curve. ReVampt is also taking part in another similar venture in Kensal Green, called 'Green Kensal'. Based on College rd, just up from Kensal Green tube, a lovely couple are setting up a shared space with eco friendly companies including some of the people we worked with at Our Eco Shop ie Still- ethical clothing and Bird- vintage and found objects. Kensal Green will also stock eco friendly household products, offer kits, textiles for free and be a centre for other ethical, sustainable projects.  All rather exciting, I am spending time working on new product and design for 2009. Despite the economic climate I am sure there will be great and good things happening this year. Happy New Year to you all.

13/07/08 Exciting news, ReVampt has been selected as a London Regional Finalist for the HSBC star start ups awards http://www.hsbcstarstartups.co.uk Several rounds to go, one of which involves an interview with the nine judges who make up the panel. Watch this space. The networking evening at the Barbican where this was announced was great. A real confidence boost to be selected from the many great companies there. Will be at Acton market on the 19th and 26th July, see www.actionacton.com for further details.

24/06/08 Not much of a blogger am I? Leaving it this long to make an entry. A lot has been going on. ReVampt won a second set of grants from London Remade and we had a Designer and a Business consultant spend time with us. We now have a business plan and two new ranges:Patchworks pieces you have seen and Plan B ( because there is no plan A) handbags launching October.Heres a peak

The Business plan is proving invaluable and we have already used some if it to enter the HSBC star start ups awards. We have made it through the first round, now waiting for London Regional Finalists on 3rd July.Watch this space. http://www.hsbcstarstartups.co.uk/ for information on these exciting awards.

ReVampt donated and joined Hugh Fearnley Whittingstalls campaign for 'Chicken Out' and helped get enough money together to get the issue to be tabled at the next Tesco AGM on June 27th. All the campaign is asking is for Tesco to put in minimum welfare standards which will make a positive difference to millions of chickens each year. All for just £5.00!! see http://www.ciwf.org/ for information on how we can make a difference.

I think thats what I am learning this year, that by presenting choice and reasoned arguements people are starting to see that 'being green' is not difficult or really that altenative. Being sensible, frugal and making choices you feel confident about are going to be what brings about change. To quote that most wise and thought provoking film ( Saving Nemo) 'just keep swimming'

PS ReVampt Sample Sale this Saturday, 28th June. Acton Farmers, Art and Craft Market. Outside Morrisons on UXbridge Rd where Horn Lane (the A406) passes. My ceramics from www.sarahlouisebaulch.co.uk will be greatly reduced, UK made but not necessarily 'eco' goods will be on offer too: crochet hats, hand knitted cushions covers, and some ReVampt goodies too.

02/01/08 Happy New Year, hope yours was filled with love, peace and happiness or at least, a break from work.... So will this year be the one where we actually make changes to our life stlyes to become greener or where we still talk about it? I am sure it will be a combination as it is in my own life, Remember small steps, big changes. Read this blog http://organic-furnishings.blogspot.com/
and watch the video introduced by Pink. I am sure it will help you make a small but important change.

04/12/07 I feel inspired to write this blog after attending Green Salons event on Monday 24 November evening, where a really good speaker about Water Scarcirty and peoples reaction to his words compelled me to say something at the event.

A few people felt the need to divert the debate away from what we can do to moaning about what we can't do ie stop different companies from digging up roads at different times to carry out work . This very British trait was echoed by others saying whats the point of saving water when the leakage of our water system is so great. The point is it is better to do something than nothing.

You feel better when you spend time doing something positive than negative. Like calling your friend you havent spoken to for ages rather than worrying about it being so long between calls. Like painting a room a different colour rather than whinging you dont like the colour.

I realise that domestically our addition to the negative climate change we are experiencing is tiny compared to industry or developing countires but we are consumers, shareholders, employees, business owners and we can say NO. Our behaviour, our opinions, our actions count. If everyone didnt shop at one of the giant supermarkets for just one week, they would listen. If we all put our money where our mouth is with our buying decisions, business would listen. If we all voted for a Party with a real enviromental messgae they would get elected. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

It is a slow process and there are signs that consumers, businesses , governement and the media are taking steps to be environmentally friendly as we all realise that we are using up our planets resources quicker than we can replace them. It is taking time and it can be overwhelming.

What we have to do is have faith and remember that from evolution comes revolution, that the Civil Rights movement was not led by the Government, that the Berlin Wall was not pulled down by Big Business, that the Vote for Women was secured by the public. Thats us, People like you and me.

This is what I said in Monday and I know it to be true. Bear it in mind, heart and soul when you think you cant bring about change, you can.

" You can get it if you really want it, but you must try, try and try. You 'll succeed at last " Jimmy Cliff
